
Community Health
The Community Health division for GDAHC focuses on access and other community healthcare concerns.
A Community Health Improvement Committee acts as an advisory body for the Community Health division. The chairs of the CHI Committee are Wayne Bradley, President and CEO, Detroit Community Health Connection, and Cynthia Taueg, Vice President, Community Health, St. John Providence Health System.
Another committee in this department is the Race, Etnicity and Primary Language and Data Collection Committee. This committee provides the direction and strategy to ensure that health plans, ambulatory and inpatient providers and their staff are trained on the standardized collection of self-reported race, thnicity or language data, and have an implementation plan. This committee is an element of GDAHC's work as an Aligning Forces for Quality community. The committee is chaired by Kimberlydawn Wisdom, MD, Henry Ford Health System, and Yvonne Anthony, PhD, director, City of Detroit Health and Wellness Promotion.
Current activities of the Community Health department include:
- Plan First! Outreach -- Plan First! is a program of the State of Michigan that provides access to free birth control and related health screening services for low-income women.
- Healthcare Disparities
- Community Health Assessments
- Advocacy and education on issues related to access and the uninsured, a participant of the Michigan Cover the Uninsured Network
- Consumer Empowerment
- Help with Healthcare Brochure (produced in partnership with BCBSM)
