Childhood Immunization Workshop

Everything you need to know about vaccines!
This free session is to brief attendees on and raise awareness among the community about the importance of childhood immunization. All interested individuals are invited to participate in this workshop. The workshop will cover the history of vaccines, value of immunizations for children under 5, the importance of the full battery of shots, concerns and issues, as well as provide referrals on where to get immunizations. This workshop is being presented by the Interfaith Health & Hope Coalition, the City of Detroit, and Wayne State University. Please view the flier for additional information.

Success After Financial Exploitation

This training opportunity is offered by the Senior Alliance to individuals who work with the senior population to help identify at-risk individuals and what types of scams are currently going on. The training session will be lead by LaToya Hall from Wayne State University's Institute of Gerontology. The Success After Financial Exploitation (SAFE) Scam and Identity Theft presentation will cover:

  • What is happening in the world of scams and identity theft
  • How to recognize seniors that may be at-risk and how to keep seniors safe
  • Professionals will also be trained on how to refer Metro Detroit area seniors to the SAFE program

Midwest Forum on Hospitals, Health Systems and Population Health

Please join the Illinois Public Health Institute for the Midwest Forum on Hospitals, Health Systems and Population Health from November 29th to December 1st. The forum will bring together organizations and key stakeholders dedicated to improving the health of all Americans. The goal of the meeting is to engage attendees in a broad dialogue across sectors to solve complex issues to improve the health of communities and integrate clinical and community health and prevention strategies. Participants will share innovative models that are working and inspire the audience to take action to help transform the existing system of care in the United States to a system that strategically plans for and supports the health of its population. Building on health equity as the core forum theme, topics include:

  • The policy environment for population health and health system transformation
  • Using data for care coordination and population health
  • Aligning financial incentives and payment for population health
  • The role of purchasers and payers in population health
  • Integrating physical and behavioral health
  • Developing clinical/community linkages
  • Connecting health with community development
  • How to engage consumers and patients in population health
  • Collaborating on and leveraging community health needs assessments and planning
