2018 Grandparents Raising Grandchildren/Kinship Statewide Conference

We all know someone raised by someone other than their biological parents. Whether a classmate, workmate or neighbor, this family dynamic exists in every city, town and state. Please join the Detroit Area Agency on Aging as they host a Statewide Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Conference on Friday, September 14. Registration information is to follow.

Intergenerational Trauma & Community Violence Summit

The goal of this summit is to explore intergenerational trauma and its relation to violence in communities of color. It will discuss trauma and violence at the individual, interpersonal, community and systems level, with a particular focus on youth of color. The summit will cover innovative approaches, partnerships and what more must be done if we are to improve health and life outcomes for youth of color. Speakers include Joy Degruy, PhD and Howard Pinderhuges, PhD, emceed by Joy Calloway, MHSA, MBA. 2018 ACP Michigan Conference

Advancing Advance Care Planning
Attendees will be challenged with topics from MI-POST, ACP laws, Reimbursement, Dementia, Community Engagement, Shared Decision-Making, Conversation Skills, and Design and Implementation. Conference objectives: to equip attendees to implement ACP in their setting; to promote shared decision-making in all stages of ACP; to enhance the ability to honor individuals' wishes.
